The statue looks very European (from this angle anyway) and his dress is Renaissance or earlier. Could this be Marco Polo?

Glad to have more words- about food and transportation. I became fascinated with China and especially Forbidden City when I was a pre-teen. I made models of Bell Tower, Drum Tower, various halls, and Tien anmen Gate. Bob Farr
